Saving a set sum regularly and with discipline is the logical way to grow a future capital sum.
There are many reasons for saving, whether to reach a definite future target – a pension to fund your old age, a pool of money to pay for the future college education of a new child or a deposit for a future home purchase - or simply to ‘put away’ a regular sum for future use.
What is key is the methodology by which you save every month. Nowadays there are low-commission offshore regular savings plans that do not tie in your money for years, or force you to save during a so-called ‘Initial Period’. These modern variants are much more saver-friendly than the older-style plans from the offshore insurance companies.
Equity investment is the proven way to grow your money over time. Equities have yielded around 9% per annum on average, net of inflation, since the 1920s.
Time is in general more important than the amount of money saved: by starting early, you reduce the amount you might need to save. Whether you need a full retirement plan or just have a regular amount of money that can be saved over a period of time, we at Caravel Partners will match you with the most appropriate plan, and explain it so you thoroughly understand and 'own' it.
Our approach is to provide our clients with a thoroughly ‘London’ level of service, both in terms of low charges, wide spread of market assets and excellence of management.
Standard portfolios start at $10,000. Many possible funds are available, including the best-performing indexes such as the S&P 500, Eurostoxx, DOW, NASDAQ and others. Whether your profile and investment stance is defensive or growth-orientated, you can access the international markets simply and easily.
We bring to the African market investment opportunities for our HNW and UHNW Private Clients that are unique in our region; normally available only from London or European Private Banks or family offices.
These can be accessed direct or via four risk-graded Caravel Diamond Strategies, which are all risk-based and actively managed. A Risk Assessment must be completed so we can suggest the correct Strategy for your risk appetite, your objectives and your investment timescale. These Strategies all have a core which is a highly-diversified multi-asset portfolio which is located, regulated and managed in London by a fund house managing more than £11 billion. These cores are available in Dollars, Pound Sterling and Euro.
Our Strategies are called Preservation and Income, Higher Income, Balanced and Growth.
Around the core multi-asset holding are a number of other fund and fixed interest assets chosen for their performance record and risk profile.
The Caravel Partners Investment Committee, guided by City of London experts and others, meets quarterly to determine the asset allocation of the Strategies for the next Quarter. It is guided by macro-economic forecasts as well as asset performance, and seeks to maximize alpha while maintaining each Strategy's risk profile.
Islamic investing is grounded in Islamic finance principles, and aims to meet investors’ financial needs with integrity and in a manner that is fair, trustworthy, honest while ensuring a more equitable wealth distribution. Islamic investing is beginning to be seen not only as religiously-guided, but also as an ethical form of investing that promotes real economic activities that are socially desirable. The net effect of this investment approach is the generation of competitive investment returns and encouraging ethical business practices.
Similar to socially responsible investing, Shariah-compliant investing mandates social values and good governance by filtering out businesses that engage in activities which are deemed unethical.
Another major difference between Islamic and Western investment is that conventional western investment identifies currency/money as commodity, thus it can be traded or rented and a profit made from it. In Islamic investment, money as a commodity is not recognized; therefore, money cannot be sold or rented to make profits. Charging money on money in a debt contract is Interest (riba) and is forbidden. Finally, all Islamic investment assets must be signed off by an Islamic scholar – certified as non-haram.
We offer three Islamic Strategies, Cautious, Balanced and Growth.
